About Owen Media

Paul Owen
president, APR

Paul began consulting in public relations in 1989 and has held positions at DDB Needham, Rolling Thunder, and Sharp Hartwig – Seattle’s largest business-to-business agency. He founded Owen Media in 1997, after three years of doing high tech PR for Intel. His goal then, and the agency’s defining characteristic today, is client service based on in-depth knowledge of client markets. He believes in creativity within context, but ultimately that PR should be accountable with results that affect business objectives.

Owen Media’s first clients were IBM, Intel, and Microsoft. For Intel he helped win the technology of the year award from Byte Magazine related to his work promoting new messaging standards. He has twice won best campaign of the year awards from the Public Relations Society of America, and became an accredited member of PRSA in 2002.

He supports a variety of industry and non-profit organizations, including Childhaven, Seattle Works, PRSA and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Each year Owen Media donates hundreds of hours and dollars to Childhaven on behalf of the agency’s clients.

Paul graduated from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon with a B.A. in English. A former newspaper editor, Paul thinks like a journalist with a broad knowledge of technology, consumer products and marketing. When he’s not visiting a client, helping co-workers or lurking in front of a keyboard, Paul hikes with his 10-year-old son and eight-year-old daughter, skis with his wife and has given up snowboarding.
